Places of Inspiration

February Special - LWK, Canary Wharf

Canary Wharf – the London hub for city entrepreneurs, cool warehouse living and dockside shopping and dining – is now the place to view the best in German kitchen design.

LWK Kitchens, a studio with an established venue in Marble Arch, has opened a second destination location at the fashionable Canon Workshops. Walk inside, and the utilitarian feel of the old West India Docks' stores and workshops is preserved and provides a backdrop to a stunning collection of kitchen displays including contemporary handleless designs, the new curved programme, high gloss, traditional and ultra-modern Signature kitchens.

Complemented by leading appliance brands such as Miele, Siemens and Neff, each kitchen display has been designed to inspire, while at several of the islands there is comfortable seating where your designer can present door samples, handles, worktops and kitchen accessories so you get a great feel of what your kitchen will look like on completion.

The showroom, which was official opened by celebrity chef, Jean-Christophe Novelli in 2010, presents a full range of kitchen door samples from matt to high gloss or real wood and spray-painted finishes. And, best of all, the staff are experienced and friendly – we guarantee a warm welcome.

Video Special - Editor Jackie Daly visits the Novelli cookery school

Voted amongst the top 25 cookery schools in the world, expectations were high when Editor Jackie Daly visited Novelli at his 14th century Hertfordshire farmhouse – but the team didn't disappoint.

First activity of the day was a tour of the delightful gardens and a master class on how to select vegetables from the school's own gardening expert before cooking began in earnest. First up was academy chef, Trish Davies, who revealed the secret of baking perfect bread. Next came Jean Christophe himself, who, as you'll see for yourself, was both utterly engaging and inspiring. To finish the ideal day, we were taken to the adjoining pottery for a beginner's introduction to the art pottery making and a turn at the potter's wheel.

This is a perfect day out for all, whether you're a beginner wanting to grasp the basics or a hobby chef honing your skills. And don't forget to look out for the fabulous worktops in this kitchen – provided by Chiltern Marble, they are both highly functional and beautiful. To book your course contact 01582 454 070.
